Let’s Salsa!

Want to get more active but the gym isn’t for you? Well, how about strutting your stuff on the dance floor and learning how to salsa! The infectious rhythm of salsa could have you burning up to 400kcal an hour, all with a smile on your face. Dancing is a great way to stay healthy, and not just in a fitness and weight loss kind of way. It can boost your brain power, is a great way of meeting new people, having fun and can even help to protect your vital organs.

Shimmy your way to good health!

Dancing is a great way to strengthen your cardiovascular system, tone your muscles and burn those calories. A study in Circulation: Heart Failure found that people with cardiac conditions who danced for just 20 minutes three times a week had significant improvements in their heart health compared to those who stuck to traditional cardio workouts. The movements in dance can help to improve flexibility, strength balance and coordination as well as endurance levels. Dancing can even give that brain of yours an intense workout by exercising your memory, coordination, cognitive processes and attention span. Several studies have also found that social dancing can even delay the onset of Alzheimer’s by an impressive 75%.

Give your social life a boost

Learning to salsa is like being in one big happy family. Going to dance lessons and socials is a great way to meet new people. The atmosphere is quite literally buzzing with people from all over the world coming together to dance and have fun. And you never know, you might even meet “the one.”

Do what makes you happy

Dancing is a great way to take your mind off things and clear your head.
You won’t get much time to think with the quick pace of salsa along with the vibrant music. Dancing also releases plenty of mood improving chemicals which keeps you feeling elevated, happy and will give you that post dance buzz and glow.

Now there’s only one thing left to say, see you on the dance floor!
