Bootcamp Buzz!

Hollywood’s hottest new workout Barry’s Bootcamp, has finally been launched in London after much excitement and anticipation. The ultimate workout has been named “the best workout in the world” with celebrity fans including Katie Holmes, Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian, Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Harnet. This intense workout burns 1000 calories in a hour, providing outstanding results and the promise of a gorgeously toned body.

Loving a challenge and keeping up with a fit and healthy lifestyle I jumped at the chance to trial a session. The classes are based on interval training. Half of the swanky gym is lined up with treadmills while the other half of the room is set up as individual work stations. Add to this low lighting and nightclub style music to keep you pumped. Oh, and trainer with a rather incredible body!

I started the class on the treadmills where we were asked to sprint, run at an incline and side step our way to a sweat. After 10 minutes we switched over to the work stations for strength training with free weights. The variety of exercises had my arms burning and my strength tested like never before. Before I knew it we were back on the cardio. A 10 minute block does not seem like much, but trust me, it was intense. Our instructor definitely had the personal touch knowing everyone’s name and ability. Even though I was the ‘new girl’ I was pushed to my absolute maximum. As someone pretty fit I am slightly ashamed to admit that I had to resort to doing girlie press ups at the end when my energy levels and shaky arms let me down! The interval cardiovascular component is designed to help you burn fat while the strength training helps to build muscle, raise metabolic rate and improve bone density. The variety of the workout and encouragement from the instructor keeps classes exciting and most importantly gets results quick.

Post workout there are Malin & Goetz candles and toiletries in the changing rooms, hair dryers and straightness post shower and a fuel bar with the chance to socialise with members and to replenish energy with a delicious menu of healthy wraps, protein shakes and juices. Everyone is so friendly and buzzing with bootcamp energy. One thing is for sure, it definitely has me hooked!
