Ginger Tea
With temperatures dropping the winter flu seems to be spreading like wildfire. Whether you are crammed into a tube full of sneezing commuters or sat in an office where your colleagues seem to be dropping like flies, ginger tea is the thing to be drinking. It is a diaphoretic tea, which means that it will warm you up from the inside and promote perspiration (don’t worry, not too much!) To make, add a few slices of fresh ginger to a mug of hot water with a slice of lemon or a drop of honey if you have a sweet tooth.
Feeling nauseous?
Ginger has been shown to reduce the symptoms associated with motion sickness including dizziness, nausea, vomiting and cold sweats. Ginger has also been used to treat morning sickness in pregnancy even in the most severe cases.
Stomach pain
Ginger has traditionally been used for getting rid of stomach pain and discomfort. It contains a substance which promotes the elimination of excessive gas from the digestive system and helps to soothe the intestinal tract.
Anti – inflammatory
This super little spice has endless health benefits. Ginger contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. Many people suffering with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experience reductions in their pain levels and improvements in their mobility when they consume ginger regularly. Pretty amazing.
